Who are Tier 2 Skaters?

Tier 2 skaters are skaters who are working on axel jump and higher and are considered “developing” athletes. In this tier, we are trying to put the framework in place for good technique with jumps, spins and skating skills as well as putting the foundations of a training schedule in place.

Skaters may range in abilities from axels through double jumps and may be competing and/or testing. All skaters in this tier should be aiming for a minimum of one gold test as a goal. Because Tier 1 is invite-only, some skaters may have double axel or higher and still be in Tier 2.

Other Criteria for Tier 2 Skaters

Skating Schedule

Depending upon the age and level of the skater, we are trying to build a training schedule so skaters are being scheduled at regular time slots and days, and we are really aiming at consistency with the skating schedule and that the skater is making up missed skating days.

Fitness

We are also implementing the basics/intermediate levels of physical fitness and injury prevention. Skaters in this tier should be doing 1-2 days minimum of fitness classes.

Emotional/Mindset

Since skaters start in this tier generally at a young age, we are developing their growth mindset and using their emotions to fuel their skating so they can continue to progress as a skater. We are also working on creating a hard work ethic and having the skater learn to practice productively on their own.

Ambition/Motivation

Skaters in Tier 2 will have goals and want to work towards them, but they usually are not as adept at overcoming obstacles yet.

Business/Financial

Skaters pay a monthly tuition and travel fees are separate.
