Electronics & Social Media

Technology

  • We are going to need technology to watch video, look up rules, check on scoring and anything else that is skating related.

  • Skaters can have phones, watches and ipads at skating, however, you must be respectful and mindful with how you and your family use them.

  • Your devices cannot distract from the learning and training that is happening.

  • Any content a skater pulls up on their device must be appropriate for all ages and be a part of our professional environment.

  • Coaches are not responsible for skaters who have inappropriate content on their devices. It will be addressed with the family if the issue comes to my attention, or it will need to go through the Great River Figure Skating Club conflict resolution procedures.

  • It is highly encouraged for skaters to stay off their phones and other devices at the rink~ unless you are watching skating or doing something that is related to skating (i.e updating your PPC form). A lot of skaters are missing out on engaging with other skaters, listening to interesting conversations or partaking in fun adventures during downtime because they are on their phones.

Social Media

  • As a figure skater, you need to be very careful about what you post about yourself on social media~ even when you are little!

  • Only post about positive things or things that promote your image as a good person and a good skater.

  • Only post elements that you did successfully or that show a positive outcome.

  • Watch your interactions with others on social media~ make sure they are always positive and respectful. Your history on social media never goes away!

  • Use social media as a gratitude and shout-out platform. Say thank you to all the people who are helping you on every step of your skating journey.

  • Do not post any exercises or drills online that we have taught you unless you ask me first.

  • Do not record other skaters or coaches without their consent first.

  • You cannot post pictures or videos about me or any other coach without our permission first. Coaching is our jobs, and we need to ensure our professional image is maintained.
