Skater Behavior & Etiquette

Language

Skaters, families and I engage a professional relationship to obtain skating goals. Therefore, the following behaviors must be upheld by the skaters:

1.) When speaking to me, you speak in a professional tone of voice without whining, complaining frequently, arguing, or being negative.

2.) If you have an issue, you use professional language ad communicate with me what is going on so we can figure it out together. For example, if you are confused by my directions, say “Melissa, I am confused. You could you please re-explain the exercise?” Skaters will be educated on how to speak to professional adults as they work with me.

3.) You must speak with professional words at all times. You are here to learn.

4.) Do not speak negatively of others, gossip, talk behind people’s backs or give corrections to others.

5.) Do not use curse words.

6.) Be careful of using “Gen Z” language~ some people find it offensive. If Melissa or anyone else says not to use a word, then you must stop.

7.) Jokes are not funny if they come at another person’s expense.

8.) No talking on the ice or in off ice classes unless it pertains to the skating topic being presented at that time.

9.) Do not be distractingly loud and obnoxious on the ice or in an off ice class.

10.) There is a ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY FOR “CUTTING.” Cutting is where you say negative things to other skaters to intentionally hurt their progress or to make you feel better about your own progress.
