Make-Up Notes
Make sure your make-up matches the character/theme/feeling/mood you are trying to convey with your program. Double check with your coach and/or choreographer about your make-up if you are unsure how to do your make-up for your program.
After applying make-up, make sure to use a setting spray to help waterproof your make-up, and it helps prevent your skin from absorbing the make-up too soon.
Nail Polish-for the most part, keep nails neutral. Clear, light white, and light pink are always good neutrals. If your program is more dramatic, then talk to your coach if you should do a darker nail polish. Darker nail polish will bring attention to your hands so make sure that is something you are ready for. If you wear performance gloves, just make sure the nail polish doesn’t show through the gloves.
Glasses, Contacts and Fake Eyelashes- make sure you practice ahead of time with fake eyelashes on if you are going to wear them. Make you practice in the appropriate eyewear before competing as well so you know what to expect.
Overall, make sure the make-up enhances the performance and enhances the skater’s facial features and expressions. Go a more classy route with make-up if you aren’t sure about something.
