Figure skating is always changing so below is information on competitions and the approximate schedule for the year.

The link below brings you to the master calendar with all of the competition links & deadlines in one place.

Competitions 2026

  • July 31-Aug 2nd- Robin Lee Competition at St. Louis Park

  • September- Maplewood Competition

  • November- Burnsville Competition

June 2026

Figure skating is an ever-changing sport so that it evolves with the times and so skaters always have opportunities to grow.

Beginning in 2027, the general figure skating qualifying season (to get to U.S. Championships) will begin in July of 2027 and go through January 2028. The national qualifying series (NQS) is now for skaters at ALL levels competing in the Championship track (Pre-Preliminary through Senior). This means that:

  • In December-January the main goal is to be beginning new programs and passing any tests

  • March-June- is beginning to compete to get any kinks out, getting judges and technical panel feedback, polishing up and refining choreography, etc.

  • July-Jan- main season/in-season

If skaters go to US Championships or other big events, the season is different for them, but this gives families a rough idea of what the skating competition schedule is like.

How Do You Know What Competitions to Attend?

As competitions are released throughout the year, I select the ones that I think will benefit my students and prepares them best for the NQS season. As much as I’d love to send everyone all of that information one time per year, competitions just don’t work that way so I have to send out the information as it is released, which is why I email everyone, have the Master Calendar, and why each skaters has their own webpage so I can put the competitions relevant to them on their webpage.

Where competitions will be held during the NQS season (July-Jan) usually are not released until March of that year.

The more skaters I have attending the same events, the better it is for everyone.

Sometimes I know families have events and things in their lives that are not compatible with certain competitions and that is okay, but make sure to let me know ASAP so we can make smart plans about your skater’s season. For the most part, though, the competitions are when they are.
