Claire Feedback

7/18/26

Claire’s double loop has made a lot of progress, and when she jumps it big enough, it is clean! She can do three double salchows in a row that are clean, and we are working on a new double flip entrance to help her double flip become more consistently clean. Her double lutz technique is good~ we are working on her simply jumping higher so she can complete all the rotation. Claire also has a really great windmill now, and she is doing well working on her layback spin!

Claire’s double loops were much better this week, and she worked on them a lot! They were landing on the quarter, which is great. Jumps that land and are a quarter or less cheated still get full credit. Claire’s windmill in her spins also improved a lot this week, which was great since it’s a more important spin position now after this round of rule changes.

Claire worked really hard this week, and I know her shoulder was bothering her. Hopefully it will be better next week. The week before, Claire was doing double lutzes again so that was good! We have been working on getting her double salchow clean, and they typically are now. Some of them are a quarter turn shy of rotation, but most are less. A quarter turn under-rotated though is still considered clean and doesn’t lose points though! Claire’s double loop has been more consistent, and her double flip is cheated probably about fifty percent of the time, but when she lands it clean, it’s fully two times around. Claire has been a lot better about working on speed on her spins, and she is adding more variations to her spins. She had her split spin consistently at 8 revolutions this week, which was great. Off ice has been good for Claire~ mat pilates is a good challenge for her :)

Claire’s double salchows are becoming more clean or are landing on the quarter more often. She is getting her double loop going again, and her double flip has been clean this week. We have been working on double salchow and double loop exercises this week so they have been rotating quicker, and they must be helping her double flip too. She is ready to move on from her current program~ Claire is over-skating a lot of the patterns, and she has been adding a lot more speed to her jumps since she has noticed that helps her jumps!

Claire has been working really hard to clean up her jumps and has been working a lot harder on her own and has had a great attitude. She definitely has landed some double salchows and some double flips clean. She is working diligently too in practice. The feedback from the technical controller on her spins was very positive~ he actually would have given her a Level 3 on her camel-combo, and he really liked her layover on her flying camel. All of the positions and all of the levels we have been working on, he would have called. She just needs to keep her speed up to help with GOE’s, and right now, she is very tired by the end of her program so that is making her flying camel spin tricky for her. But she knows that, and she is willing to do sections to keep her endurance up. The endurance becomes the most challenging part in these longer programs so once her endurance gets built up for the Silver Freeskate test, it will be best if we just keep going to get that Pre-Gold and Gold freeskate tests so her endurance is already there. Overall though, I am very proud of Claire and how quickly she is working to make her jumps cleaner. I hope she is learning that when she is determined, she can make anything happen for herself.

Claire’s double axels have improved a lot in the past month! They are a lot of technique work, but she does a great job learning the small steps everyday. She landed 10 double lutzes last Friday!

Ilya has been really impressed with Claire this week and is really excited about her programs. He really likes working with her.

Claire has been landing some awesome double lutzes! They are huge!

She also can already do a full run through of her One program with all of the jumps and spins! A few things are off, but they will get better as she builds her endurance.

Wow! Claire has been amazing her last two days back! She is already doing halves of her Excel Novice program with all of the jumps and spins. It’s a long program so that is impressive. She really likes her Short Program; she keeps asking to practice it with the music :)
