1st Dress to Get- Excel Novice
Ilya thought one of the more trendy dresses that looks like the color is airbrushed on would look good with this music. He was going to send me the name of the designer he uses, but I haven’t reached out this week since I know there’s a coach at their rink that just passed away. I think Ilya is thinking of the dresses that look like this:
I think the airbrush dresses could be expensive, and since I’m hoping Claire will just be an Excel Novice through July, I’m not sure if it’s an investment you should make since this type of dress wouldn’t fit her other upcoming programs unless you are able to do an airbrush type dress in red and black so Claire could also use it for her Novice Short program. I’ll reach out to Ilya on Monday just so we have that designer’s info and price point.

2nd Dress to Get- Intermediate/Novice Short Program
This music is Spanish-style so any dress that is red and black with a Spanish flair will work. If we can get an air-brush type dress with those colors that is cool or maybe try contacting the lady who did Claire’s Ballet Egyptian dress? A Spanish style dress seems up her alley.
3rd Dress to Get- Novice-Senior Freeskate Dress for Umbrellas of Cherbourg
This dress I would invest in. Claire will use it a lot and as you move up in freeskate levels, having a really detailed dress that fits your music is part of your scoring. Tessa Virtue’s version of the dress is amazing so that is always a good route to go. There is a lot of great detailing on the dress. Just make sure the skirt is shorter:
We have more time to get this dress because I’m not anticipating Claire test her Senior Freeskate until summer, and she won’t compete Novice Championship until fall so we have some time.
I’m not sure of the best designer yet, but I found Kaitlyn Wilson Designs on Instagram, and this flower dress she made has a lot of detailing like the dress above, so maybe see if she could make a dress like this?
If, for some reason, we can’t find a designer, here are a few generic options. I think the light blue dress may not be sophisticated or delicate enough to match the music, and the Tania Bass dress seems too expensive for something slightly generic (click on the picture for the website):
